| Here is your chance to fly a true Champion of aircraft. For pilot’s who want to get their tailwheel endorsement and get some fun “STICK” time, Micco Aircraft Company offers a tailwheel endorsement program using the new American Champion Adventure. The Adventure features tandem seating with dual stick controls and is an excellent choice for your tailwheel indoctrination training. |
Your flight program will be customized to meet your experience level and will include ground and flight instruction beginning with the ground handling and taxi characteristics of the tailwheel aircraft. Take off, torque effects, and cross wind takeoffs on both pavement and grass strips will be mastered. Once you are familiar with the American Champion in normal maneuvers, slow flight, stalls, steep turns, you will move on to the conventional Champion three point full stall landing and tailwheel roll out in both normal and cross wind and gusty conditions. The three point landing technique is favored for short, soft and grass field operations. |
| When you have become proficient at the three point landing under a variety of wind and runway conditions you will be ready to move on to the wheel landing. The wheel landing is made with a power on approach and touch down in a level attitude with the main wheels only. Once “on” the deck you will transition to the three point attitude as speed dissipates and you plant the stick for the three point roll out. Utilizing the wheel landing gives positive control in stronger cross wind landing conditions. You will learn how to touch down and master the tailwheel aircraft in strong crosswind and gusty wind conditions and the transition to a controlled landing roll out. |
Depending on your experience level and performance, the tailwheel endorsement can typically be accomplished in between five and ten hours of flight and ground instruction. You will then be ready to move on to tailwheel check out and flying in your own aircraft or move up to the high performance Micco SP26A and experience the thrill of the Spin, Loop, Roll and Unusual Attitude training program. |
